The Reign of Tybalt the Capulet: A look at the discourse on the current Gaza Crisis

By “Basu Ka Bakwas”
What drawn and talk of peace? I hate the word as I hate hell, all Montague’s and thee”-Tybalt
Act-1, Scene-1 Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
It is difficult to talk about Gaza and what’s happening there without getting drawn into either of the sides .While discussed every where it is either as for or against and one get saturated with the rhetoric I could either be oozing  Benjamin you know who blogger is blocking the full name  “If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.” or “An Palestinian annihilation” but not both or neither.
Something described vividly in “Romeo and Juliet” where not joining one of the opposing camps comes with a price.
As Indians we are obliviously thrown, cajoled or argued into siding with Israelites the reasons are obvious. Israel and Indians long standing victims of terror at least the Israelites are bringing justice to the terrorists, any Israeli let down will be a cause célèbre among the Maulana Hafiz Saeed’s of this world, tactics and training (not to forget 15 Indians in ISIS the very similarity of stone pelting in Kashmir with the Palestinian Intifada). It is almost like we can never argue against Israel because like close friends if Israel sneezes India has already caught the cold.
However coming to agree with Israel  comes with its own set of problems. In the present campaign by any standards the Israelis have taken the dictum an “Eye for Eye” to an insane high .Plainly shown by the present Statistics Israel 200 kills Palestine Hamas one. While seeking justice against terrorism is one it should not be a cover for blowing Gaza into a thousand pieces.
Military solutions will not quell but add to the problem let’s face it ISIS is a creation of Bush “Iraqi Freedom”, Afghanistan is slowly spiraling out of control. Frustrating when you consider that Israel has reacted to a killing on the border  very similar to the ongoing slaughter of Indian soldiers by Pakistani elements. They reacted we didn’t or couldn’t.
Hamas might have gained in the present conflict by turning global attention on to Gaza and Israelites provoke tactics with the killing and the rockets have led Israel into a massive annihilation campaign. This if anything will swell Hamas ranks the attacks will be more spectacular and more frequent.  The social media is full of reports    of ex-hamas leader told the every fourth Palestinian child is prospective for jihad.A common propaganda arguing that Palestinians are to blame for the violence. However if the current genocide goes on and Israel is able to bomb Gaza to dust until it ensures that there is no Palestinian left the three leftover Palestinian children who didn’t join Jihad unlike their fourth sibling will now most likely join Jihad. The reasons are simple the three brother will find themselves in a rubble with no jobs and no lively hood with nothing left to do other than seek Vengeance. So for one dead Jihadist we have three.
The problems of extremism especially Islamic terrorism is manifold there are colluding governments, foreign fighters; human shields etc.Seeking justice for terror attacks is frustrating as we Indians know all too well. However that shouldn’t translate to an annihilation campaign.
Like Romeo and Juliet if this continues in the end we might all very well get to hear one of the last lines of the play “All are punished”.
